Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has announced her early withdrawal from the current season. Previously, it was reported that she pulled out of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing due to a hip injury.
“Lately, I haven`t been feeling myself. I`m not in the right emotional space and don`t feel ready to compete, so I`m ending my season now.
Over the years, I`ve understood that in this sport, what truly matters isn`t money, fame, or rankings, but the ability to give your all and be ready to fight. Right now, I`m simply not at that mental and emotional level to do so. I need time to rest, to feel, to breathe, and just to be. That`s why I`m giving myself the space I need to heal and recover, instead of forcing things. When I step back onto the court, I want to fight with everything I have and give my absolute best for the fans, for the game, and for myself. With love, Elina.”
The 31-year-old Svitolina is a bronze medalist from the 2020 Olympics and is currently ranked 13th in the world. This year, the Ukrainian athlete secured a WTA-250 title in Rouen, France.
