Kazakhstan`s Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion and current World No. 12, has confirmed her participation in the WTA 500 clay court tournament in Strasbourg, France. The event is scheduled to take place from May 18 to 24 and will serve as key preparation for Roland Garros 2025.
Rybakina has previously competed in the Strasbourg tournament on two occasions (in 2018 and 2020), reaching the final in 2020.
The provisional entry list for the 2025 Strasbourg event also includes Russian players Liudmila Samsonova and Anna Kalinskaya, Americans Jessica Pegula (currently World No. 4) and Emma Navarro (currently World No. 9), and Spain`s Paula Badosa (currently World No. 10).
As a recent reminder, Elena Rybakina was unable to advance past the third round (Round of 32) at the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome, Italy. She was defeated by Canadian player Bianca Andreescu with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
