World No. 20 Ekaterina Alexandrova shared her thoughts after defeating Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6/1, 6/3 in the second round of Roland Garros.
“I played a good match,” Alexandrova commented. “Especially in the first set, everything really came together. I knew the second set wouldn`t be as straightforward. A real battle did develop, but overall, I felt like I had things under control.”
She added, “Before Roland Garros, I missed two tournaments. Considering that break without playing matches, I believe I`m playing quite well. Looking ahead, in the match against Veronika, it will be crucial to focus specifically on my own game.”
“It`s important for me to keep playing the way I`m now trying to, with a new approach: not rushing,” Alexandrova explained. “Even if a rally isn`t unfolding exactly as I`d wish, I try not to force it. In the past, I might try to hit a winner on any ball, whether it was comfortable or not, but now I`m trying to wait for a more suitable moment. Even if I don`t always like doing that.”
