World No. 10 Daniil Medvedev discussed the significant differences in court conditions he experienced at the Madrid Open. After defeating Juan Manuel Cerundolo on the main court (Manuel Santana Stadium) and then Brandon Nakashima on the second court (Arantxa Sanchez Vicario Stadium), Medvedev highlighted the varying playing surfaces as a key factor in his performance, particularly during the challenging match against Nakashima.

“All courts around the world are different. Let`s say at Wimbledon, the Centre Court will be a bit different than Court One, and so on… But here, for some reason, the difference was huge: the ball bounced high, it was tough to return, it was tough for both of us to hit the court, there were a lot of unforced errors. I got very angry at the end of the first set because I couldn`t control it. But I felt I wasn`t far from playing better and winning, so I`m happy that I managed it. And I hope the next match will be even better.”

Medvedev secured his spot in the quarterfinals after overcoming Nakashima in three sets (3/6, 6/1, 6/4).
