World No. 35 Danielle Collins spoke about her feelings after her victory over Iga Swiatek in the third round of the Rome tournament, with a score of 6/1, 7/5. This win marked the first time in her career that the American player had defeated a Top 5 opponent on clay.
“I`ve played Iga many times, and the head-to-head record is in her favor. When you play so many tough matches, show your best tennis, but still come up short, it teaches you a lot. Today, I was able to apply those lessons,” Collins stated in her post-match interview.
