Daniel Cormier, a former two-division UFC champion, recently discussed the primary error he believes led to his knockout loss against Jon Jones in their highly anticipated rematch.
Recalling the second fight, Cormier stated in an interview with Eddie Alvarez: “I fought very well initially. But then I started talking to him, lost my concentration, and ultimately, I took that kick to the head. Getting distracted allowed him to land the shot. My biggest regret is not maintaining focus. I felt so good that night, I pushed past my usual boundaries and did things out of character, and it cost me.”
The rematch between Cormier and Jones took place in 2017. While Jones secured a third-round knockout victory, the result was later overturned to a `no contest` after Jones tested positive for a banned substance.
