The Dallas Stars have already secured a playoff spot, making them the third team this season to do so. Currently positioned to be the second seed in the Central Division, they are likely headed for a first-round series against the Colorado Avalanche.

However, the Stars are still in contention for the Central Division title, which would give them a more favorable first-round matchup against a wild-card team.

As of Monday night, the Stars trail the Winnipeg Jets by six points, with the Jets holding a slight edge in regulation wins (40 to 39). To overtake Winnipeg, a victory against the Seattle Kraken on Monday is crucial. The Kraken were recently eliminated from playoff contention.

Looking at their upcoming schedule, the Stars only face two current playoff teams, one of which is a critical game against the Jets on April 10. In contrast, the Jets have five games remaining against playoff-bound teams.

While projections suggest the Jets are more likely to win the division (82.8% chance compared to the Stars` 17.2%), the Stars can still achieve this by winning their games against non-playoff teams and hoping for some losses from Winnipeg`s opponents.
