Irish mixed martial arts sensation, Conor McGregor, has officially declared his ambition to contend for the presidency of Ireland. This announcement was highlighted by him sporting a `Make Ireland Great Again` cap, a gift received during a recent visit to the White House.
This declaration comes shortly after former U.S. President Donald Trump publicly praised McGregor as his `favorite Irishman` during their meeting at the Oval Office, adding fuel to the speculation.
McGregor, aged 36, took to Instagram to advocate for a presidential election before November 11th of the current year. He reiterated his strong opposition to the EU migration pact in the same post.
In his statement, McGregor questioned who else would challenge the current government, asserting his unique capability to stand against them. He emphasized the simplicity of the choice for Ireland, urging citizens to vote for him to `save Ireland`.
It`s worth noting that McGregor`s last appearance in the octagon was in July 2021, where he faced a defeat against Dustin Poirier.
