World No. 4 American Coco Gauff shared her thoughts on the upcoming WTA 1000 tournament semifinal match in Madrid, Spain. She is set to face World No. 2 Iga Świątek from Poland.

“Obviously, Iga is strong on clay, as well as on other surfaces, but particularly on clay,” Gauff stated. “Our last two encounters were on hard court, so I will approach this new meeting differently, viewing it as a distinct match. However, I am hopeful that I can perform and play great tennis, just as I did in the quarterfinals.”

“I believe I have a good chance of securing a win. Overall, I feel I am improving with each match,” she added. “I am eagerly anticipating this next match and will be happy to compete against one of the top players in the world,” Gauff concluded during her press conference.
