World No. 3 Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has stated that he has been affected by public expectations following Jannik Sinner`s slip in rankings. He mentioned that some people anticipated his immediate return to the top spot.
“I`m not surprised that I am no longer No. 1, although many still expect me to win everything. They thought that just because Sinner isn`t there, Sasha [Alexander Zverev] and I should win everything or play better than before. This is incorrect, especially since there are now many more players who can progress in tournaments,” Alcaraz said, as quoted by AS.
Today, April 9th, Carlos Alcaraz is scheduled to play his second-round match against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
