World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain shared his thoughts on his unexpectedly early departure from the Paris Masters tournament. In the first round, he was defeated by Great Britain`s Cameron Norrie with a score of 6/4, 3/6, 4/6.
“I won`t be rewatching this match; I`ll try to simply forget it. I chose the wrong game strategy for such a slow court, and it was one of my worst matches this year. While some matches offer lessons, I don`t see any clear takeaways from this one.
I had energy, and I felt like I could play. This year, I`ve felt great, both physically and mentally. In previous seasons, I felt much more fatigued. I also spent time at home and enjoyed the break, where I relaxed. I don`t know what happened here. It`s always been challenging for me to perform well at this tournament. But I hope I can turn things around,” Alcaraz stated during a press conference.
