In an official statement, the medical facility confirmed that the 47-year-old is in a “stable, conscious, and under constant observation” condition.

Further updates were shared via Lucio`s Instagram story, stating: “He is stable, conscious and receiving all necessary medical care. His injuries are being treated with specialized care, and his clinical condition is improving positively.”

“We are immensely grateful for the affection, prayers and messages of support that we have received at this delicate time,” the statement added.

“We ask that our family`s privacy be respected and we will inform you of any relevant news through official channels. With faith, strength and God`s support, he will recover soon.”

Reports indicate that Lucio suffered the burns as a result of a domestic accident that occurred at his home.

However, the precise extent and the exact cause of his injuries have not yet been publicly disclosed.

Lucio is widely celebrated for his prominent role in Brazil`s defense between 2000 and 2011, a period that included helping his country lift the 2002 FIFA World Cup trophy. He accumulated 105 international appearances during this time, scoring four goals.

At the club level, his distinguished career began at Guara and SC Internacional in Brazil before moving to Europe, where he played for Bayer Leverkusen and later Bayern Munich in Germany.

The commanding centre-back transferred from Bayern to Inter Milan in 2009. He spent four successful years in Italy and was a vital member of Jose Mourinho`s historic treble-winning squad in the 2010 season, famously winning the Champions League.
