UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall offered his views on why a bout against the undisputed titleholder Jon Jones has not yet been officially announced.
Aspinall stated, “Honestly, there`s nothing I can personally do to accelerate this. I believe it ultimately comes down to finances, and the hold-ups are originating from Jones`s end. I`m prepared to compete wherever and whenever he prefers. But, in my opinion, the core issue is money.”
He further elaborated, “Based on statistical analysis, I represent the most significant threat in the UFC. Pitting him against an athlete of my physical stature who has already achieved considerable success in his career… I think Jones is astute and comprehends the situation, which is why he is seeking substantial financial compensation.”
It`s worth noting that Aspinall`s last appearance inside the octagon was in July of the previous year, where he secured a knockout victory over Curtis Blaydes.
