The world`s number one tennis player, Aryna Sabalenka, was recently asked for her opinion regarding the possibility of artificial intelligence (AI) replacing human tennis coaches in the foreseeable future.
Speaking at a press conference held in Dubai ahead of the `Battle of the Sexes` exhibition event, the Belarusian athlete acknowledged the potential benefits of technology but firmly dismissed the idea of a complete substitution.
“It might be useful when it comes to collecting and analyzing statistics,” Sabalenka stated. “But a computer will never be able to replace a human. It`s simply not the same.”
Sabalenka`s remarks underscore the current consensus among many top athletes: while AI can serve as a powerful tool for data analysis and performance measurement, the nuanced, emotional, and psychological support provided by a human coach remains indispensable in elite sports.
