Sports news ยป Arthur Fils Breaks Nadal’s Youngest Record at Monte-Carlo

World No. 15 Arthur Fils has made history at the Monte-Carlo Masters, becoming the youngest tennis player to reach the quarterfinals in the first three Masters 1000 tournaments of the season. This achievement comes after his victory over Andrey Rublev in the third round.

At the start of the Monte-Carlo tournament, Fils was 20 years and 298 days old. He surpassed the record previously held by Rafael Nadal, who was 20 years and 316 days old in 2007 when he accomplished the same feat.

The top 5 youngest players to achieve this milestone since 1990 are:

  • Rafael Nadal in 2008 (21 years and 321 days)
  • Novak Djokovic in 2009 (21 years and 326 days)
  • Andy Murray in 2009 (21 years and 333 days)

Earlier in the season, Fils reached the third round at both Indian Wells and Miami Masters. In Monte-Carlo, he is set to compete against Carlos Alcaraz or Daniel Altmaier in the quarterfinals.
