Gabriel, a key player who has featured in almost every Premier League game this season, had to come off after just 16 minutes.

Timber was also substituted, leaving the field with 13 minutes remaining, although Arteta mentioned he had been struggling for a while before the substitution.

Arteta commented on their injuries after the game, stating, “We don’t know how they're going to be. We will be assessing them tomorrow.”

He added, “Gabi felt something in his hamstring. We don’t know the extent of it. With Jurrien, he was already having difficulties early in the match and couldn`t continue.”

These injuries put both defenders in a race against time to be fit for Arsenal`s Champions League quarter-final match against Real Madrid next Tuesday.

In positive news for Arsenal, Bukayo Saka made a comeback from injury and scored within seven minutes of his return, after being sidelined for over three months due to hamstring surgery in December.

Saka scored from close range, extending Arsenal`s lead, and celebrated with fitness coach Sam Wilson, who he has worked with since his time in Arsenal`s Under-21s.
