Antony has stated that his loan move from Manchester United to Real Betis is the best decision he has ever made.
The 25-year-old Brazilian forward, who cost United a substantial £85.5 million, faced a challenging couple of years at Old Trafford under manager Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United officials agreed to his temporary departure during the January transfer window. Antony`s choice to join Manuel Pellegrini`s side in Seville was considered a surprising one by some.
However, the transfer has worked out positively for everyone involved, and the Spanish club is reportedly eager to keep him for another season.
Antony and his representatives are expected to hold discussions with Manchester United this month regarding his long-term future.
Commenting on his current situation, Antony said: “Joining Betis was the best decision I’ve ever made.”
He added: “I am happy, and when I am happy, everything goes well.”
Reflecting on what lies ahead, he stated: “It is still very early days, and while I don`t know what will happen next, I am very happy here at Betis.”
Antony believes that consistent playing time in a positive environment was more important for him than seeking a potentially larger transfer.
He explained: “Even though I know my talent and received better offers, I chose to prioritize joining a place where I knew I would be happy.”
He concluded by emphasizing: “Scoring goals and providing assists are important, but my happiness is even more so.”
Antony`s performances at Betis have reportedly attracted interest from Atletico Madrid, who might consider a bid this summer, a period when United is anticipated to be open to selling the player.
Reports suggest that a potential fee for the winger could range between £34 million and £43 million for the LaLiga club.
In other news from Old Trafford, Manchester United could potentially face difficulty in retaining their captain, Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese star is reportedly a target for Saudi Arabian clubs, with Al-Hilal rumoured to have offered him a lucrative £65 million per season over three years.
Fernandes has not yet publicly responded to these reports, and the club`s stance is reportedly that they do not wish to sell their influential captain.
This comes amidst reports that Manchester United is planning a significant squad overhaul this summer, aiming to offload at least 10 players as part of a major rebuild.
Players whose departures are considered highly likely include Jonny Evans, Tom Heaton, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelof.
United is also reportedly seeking permanent buyers for Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in order to generate funds for signing a new forward.
Additionally, midfielder Casemiro is expected to be made available for transfer as the club looks to raise capital for new acquisitions.
