Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick shared his insights on the distinctive game of rising tennis star Mirra Andreeva during a podcast with Kim Clijsters.
Roddick expressed amazement at Andreeva’s ability to hit winners, noting, “It’s strange, but when she hits a winner, people are stunned. It’s not that she hits harder than others, but she seems to choose the absolutely perfect trajectory for her shots. She can hit short, she can play it high. It’s unusual.”
He further elaborated on her playing style, stating, “She serves great, but her game reminds me of Martina Hingis. Hingis played a bit against her opponent’s movement, always a step ahead. I think the most fitting comparison is a combination of you [Clijsters] and Hingis in terms of how she slides and executes her forehand from various positions. There isn’t a more versatile tennis player on the Tour than her,” Roddick concluded.
