Andrey Olkhovskiy, the 1993 Roland Garros mixed doubles champion, recently offered high praise regarding the current standing of Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva in the WTA rankings.
In an interview with TASS, Olkhovskiy commented, “Lately, Mirra has been performing quite consistently. She reached the quarterfinals in recent Grand Slam tournaments, demonstrating a level of play that certainly aligns with the world`s top five. I believe she will establish herself firmly in that group, as she is already defeating many top-ten players and occasionally securing victories against leading competitors.”
The 18-year-old Andreeva achieved her career-best Grand Slam result by reaching the semifinals of Roland Garros in 2024. Later that year, she followed up with a quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon, which led to her debut at number five in the WTA rankings. This made Andreeva the youngest player since 2004 to enter the WTA top five.
