Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has offered his perspective, stating that in his opinion, Islam Makhachev has already surpassed the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Sterling regards Makhachev as “one of the greatest lightweights of all time.” He primarily attributes Makhachev`s edge over Khabib to his activity level. While acknowledging that some might not see Makhachev as exceptionally active, Sterling points out that Islam`s total number of UFC fights likely already exceeds Khabib`s recorded 13 or 14 bouts.
Crucially, Sterling believes Makhachev`s trajectory to the title, marked by a series of victories over formidable opponents, coupled with his subsequent defenses against top contenders, solidifies his standing as superior to Khabib at this point in their careers.
