World No. 2, Germany`s Alexander Zverev, used his mobile phone to photograph a controversial ball mark during his third-round match at the Madrid Masters tournament against Spain`s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The incident took place on the Spaniard`s serve in the second set when the score was 4/5.
Zverev insistently requested the chair umpire to come down to the court to inspect the mark. However, his request was not granted. It is important to note that the Madrid tournament employs an automated electronic line-calling system, which means umpires are unable to change decisions regarding ball placement.
As a result of this incident, Alexander Zverev received a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct.
