After surpassing 800 career goals in the 2022-23 season, Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin is now focused on breaking Wayne Gretzky`s NHL record of 894 career goals.
Ovechkin started the 2024-25 season with 853 goals and has currently reached 888. The excitement surrounding his pursuit has made Ovechkin a popular subject for NHL betting, with various prop bets available.
Predicting when Ovechkin will surpass Gretzky depends on his scoring rate, which has become slightly uncertain due to a five-week absence caused by a broken fibula. He returned to play on December 28 against the Maple Leafs.
