World No. 29 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina commented on a controversial incident involving the Hawk-Eye live system during his match against Alexander Zverev in Madrid.
At a score of 2/6, 5/4 in favor of Davidovich Fokina, Zverev believed his opponent`s shot had landed out of bounds. However, the Hawk-Eye live system determined the ball was in. Zverev proceeded to argue with chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani, who refused to come down to inspect the mark. The decision stood, leading Zverev to use his phone to photograph the mark on the court.
Speaking about the episode during a press conference, Davidovich Fokina stated: “When I looked at the mark from my side of the court, I immediately understood it was a clear error. I cannot understand how the system determined the ball was in. I agree with Sasha [Zverev] that the system needs to be changed. It`s not normal.”
