Sports news ยป Alcaraz Discusses Using Musetti’s Nerves in Rome Semi-Final

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz shared his thoughts after advancing to the final of the Rome Masters tournament. He secured his spot by defeating Italian opponent Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-finals with a score of 6-3, 7-6(4).

Alcaraz suggested that Musetti`s nerves likely played a significant role in the match, possibly amplified by playing in front of his home crowd in Rome.

“Lorenzo has been in this position before; this is his third consecutive Masters semi-final,” Alcaraz noted. “It`s understandable that playing at home, wanting to win and reach the final in front of your own fans, can create pressure. Those thoughts can sometimes work against you.”

He further explained his strategy, stating, “He was making a lot of errors at the beginning of the match and seemed very tight. I noticed that. I tried to take advantage of that situation and capitalize on his mistakes. I focused on playing smart and solid tennis, which helped me secure the first set.” Alcaraz made these remarks during his post-match press conference.
