Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya recently looked back on his intense and memorable fight against Kelvin Gastelum.
Recounting the fierce battle, Adesanya shared, “I understood that this was my moment. I’ve mentioned this many times, and while some people might think I’m kidding, I was genuinely prepared to die. And what a glorious way to go that would have been! But if I’m ready to die, then it also means I’m ready to take a life. It’s incredibly tough to finish Kevin. It`s hard to hurt him badly; I remember hitting him, and he just wouldn`t go down. He possesses immense willpower; he simply doesn’t quit… Before the start of each round, he would shake his hands and stare right at me. And in that moment, I knew there was no way he would back down,” Adesanya stated during an appearance on the Pound 4 Pound podcast with Kamaru & Cejudo.
