MMA manager Ali Abdel-Aziz has issued a strong response to British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. Hearn recently claimed that mixed martial arts holds less popularity than boxing in the combat sports world.
Taking to social media, Abdel-Aziz sharply retorted, calling Hearn a “clown.” He contrasted the origins of their respective sports, noting the UFC`s humble beginnings over 30 years ago compared to Hearn`s entry into boxing which he attributed to “daddy`s money.”
Addressing Hearn`s struggle to name six UFC superstars, Abdel-Aziz pointed to the combined social media reach of fighters like Islam Makhachev, Jon Jones, and Khabib Nurmagomedov, who together boast over 60 million followers – a figure he argued is unmatched by any boxer. Abdel-Aziz concluded by suggesting Hearn`s comments stem from jealousy towards UFC President Dana White.
