Boupendza had recently joined Zhejiang FC in China in January. He had a career playing for clubs such as Bordeaux in France, Hatayspor in Turkey, Cincinnati in the USA, and Rapid Bucuresti in Romania.

For his latest team, Zhejiang, he scored four goals and provided six assists in just six games.

According to reports, an investigation is underway into the circumstances of Boupendza’s death. He had missed a recent training session without explanation, and club officials were unable to reach him.

Aubameyang expressed his grief on Instagram, saying, “I don`t have the words. Rest in peace my brother.”

Hatayspor, his former club, also released a statement: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Aaron Boupendza, who was a player for Hatayspor in the 2020/21 season and was the top scorer. We send our condolences to his family and friends, Zhejiang FC, and the football community. Rest in peace.”

The Gabonese Football Federation stated: “The Gabonese international player passed away after falling from the 11th floor of his apartment building in China, where he played for Zhejiang FC. At 28 years old, Boupendza will be remembered as a talented striker who made a significant impact at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.”

Fans have been sharing their condolences on social media, with many expressing shock and sadness at his untimely death.
