The Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the PGA Tour`s only official team competition, is scheduled to tee off this week at TPC Louisiana.

This year`s event features a strong field, highlighted by defending champions and Ryder Cup teammates Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry. They return looking to defend their title after winning last season in a playoff against Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer.

For Rory McIlroy, the tournament marks his first competitive appearance since his historic victory at the 2025 Masters, which completed his career Grand Slam.

The unique two-man format includes two rounds played as foursomes (alternate shot) and two rounds as four-ball (best ball). After 36 holes, the top 33 teams (including ties) will make the cut and advance to the final two rounds. The winning duo will share a significant prize, receiving $1,329,400 and 400 FedEx Cup points each.

Since adopting the team format in 2017, the event has provided an opportunity for players to partner based on shared connections such as country, college, or hometown. The tournament scoring record for the team format is 30-under 258, set by Nick Hardy and Davis Riley in 2023.
